BASPAG AwardsThe Basic and Applied Sciences Professional Advisory Group (BASPAG) is soliciting nominations for the “Basic and Applied Sciences Officer of the Year Award”. This award was developed to acknowledge a United States Public Health Service (USPHS) officer that is a member of the Health Services Category, with a concentration in scientific disciplines such as the biological sciences, epidemiology, health sciences, mathematical sciences, and physical sciences. The nominee should have made a significant contribution to the advancement of the Nation's health, demonstrated leadership in their work and the USPHS, and show involvement in health-related professional or community organizations or activities. The award will be presented annually at the Commissioned Officers Association (COA) meeting. Complete nomination information and forms are available on the BASPAG website and must be submitted no later than Friday, March 11, 2011. Incomplete award nominations will not be considered. Nominations may come from a supervisor, professional colleague, or anyone who, through a professional working relationship, can attest to the impact of the nominee's contributions to the advancement of public health.
